A Bit About Me
Hi there! I'm Claire, a nurse living in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born and raised in the Peanut Capital of the World, I moved to Fort Worth, Texas, in 2014 to obtain my Bachelor of Science in strategic communication (i.e. public relations) at TCU.
I lived in South Korea as a Fulbright scholar for a year and then came home to get my BSN from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
After nearly a year in lockdown due to pandemic, I decided to seize the moment and spontaneously move to sunny Las Vegas.
I want to use this platform to provide evidence-based information about health and wellness.
Thanks for visiting, and I hope you enjoy my content!
Work Experience
October 2021 - Present
April 2021 - October 2021
January 2021 - April 2021
August 2019 - December 2021
I currently work as a pre-op and PACU nurse at an ambulatory surgery center. I provide evidence-based, high quality care while inserting IVs, teaching discharge instructions and recovering patients from anesthesia. I begin my DNP program in May of 2022.
I started working in an intermediate care (IMC) unit in Las Vegas, Nevada to expand my bedside skills. I encountered many challenges that made me question everything I had learned about nursing. I also discovered my passion for patient education, and I decided that I wanted to use my skills as a nurse, communicator, and educator to improve health literacy and access to accurate health information. To this end, I am currently pursuing my doctorate of nursing practice (DNP) as a family nurse practitioner (FNP) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
I started my nursing career in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) where I grew up volunteering in my hometown of Dothan, Alabama. I fell in love with this nursing specialty and was so grateful for the rare opportunity to start my career in the PACU.
July 2018 - July 2019
August 2014 - May 2018
I moved to Fort Worth, Texas, to obtain my Bachelor of Science in strategic communication. Here, I joined Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, was President of IJM at TCU and studied subjects like the Nature of Giving in addition to my public relations studies.
